Upgrading from OSIsoft PI‑CM to rCAAM 4 provides 10 control loop monitoring benefits

If you've used OSISoft PI Control Monitor (PI‑CM), you're familiar with control loop monitoring and how it can benefit your process operations. rCAAM 4,the official successor to PI‑CAM, increases those benefits with significant improvements over PI‑CM.

1. Windows client-server technology

rCAAM 4 Server runs as a Windows’ service, so it is always available for calculation and reporting.

2. Three-tiered control loop hierarchy

rCAAM 4 provides three levels of hierarchy for control loop aggregation: site, area and process.

3. Reporting

One of the most substantial improvements over PI‑CM is reporting. rCAAM 4 offers these new reporting features:

  • Reports based on shift, day, month, quarter or year
  • Reports may be emailed or sent to a printer
  • Configurable reports allow specific data to be sent to specific individuals
  • Reports may be generated and viewed on demand for any time period
  • Bad Loops report tells you which loops are not able to be evaluated

4. 14 statistic categories now available

rCAAM 4 computes 14 statistics, including standard deviation of the measured variable and controller output.

5. Store statistics in PI

rCAAM 4 can store any statistics it calculates back into the PI database for use with all PI tools and features. Version 4 will even create the statistics’ PI tags for you.

6. Configurable statistic limits

All limits used in determining demerits are now user-configurable.

7. Configurable users with security

Different users can be configured to handle IT functions, to configure control loops and statistics or simply to receive and print reports.

8. ScoreCard application

rCAAM 4 includes a scorecard-style interface that lets you see the state of all your loops at a glance. You can drill down to view individual loops and their statistics.

9. Recalculation enhancements

You can now recalculate statistics for any loops for any period for which PI has data.

10. Import/Export database

The rCAAM 4 database is easily built and maintained from a spreadsheet. You can also make changes within the Configurator.
