RoviSys Electrical Designer

An electrical designer will design and draw electrical drawings using AutoCAD for panel build and construction packages. A goal for this position is to develop the designer’s electrical engineering skill set while they continue to pursue their bachelors of science degree.

Description of Work:

• Machine control cabinets – Motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives, control relays, power terminations, grounding, sizing control power transformers, etc
• Control systems – Designing PLC rack installations, power supplies, instrument grounding requirements, control wiring and terminations
• Field termination boxes
• Remote operator stations
• Conduit and cable schedules

Piping and Instrument Drawing Development is another area where designers are sometimes utilized:

• Ability to specify instrumentation, valves and installation requirements of same
• Development of P&ID drawing sets
• Walkdowns of sites and ability to recognize equipment to add to P&ID

Qualifications:

• Self-motivated, excellent communication skills, desire to learn
• A.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering
• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered in lieu of A.S
• Industry or Co-op experience highly recommended

Job Knowledge Desired:

• Current with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical will be considered a plus
• Panel Design basics and National Electrical Code and NFPA 79
• Power distribution up to 480 VAC, Fusing, etc
• Hardware applications include Rockwell, Siemens, Square D PLC and distribution components
• Familiarity with databases

Ideal Candidates – Additional Job Knowledge:

• Process Control
• Process Understanding of batch or continuous process control, combustion
• Experience with automation of AutoCAD tasks for electrical design
