US industrial and business energy grants, tax credits and programs

Manufacturers in the United States can take advantage of federal and state programs that promote industrial energy savings. Programs include:

  • Free energy assessments

  • End user and professional training

  • Free industrial efficiency software

  • Energy tax credits, low interest loans and grants to purchase and install energy-efficient equipment and programs

  • Grants and other support to develop and market energy-efficient solutions, equipment and programs

RoviSys power and energy engineers can assist clients in identifying programs applicable to their facilities. In many cases, these programs are segmented according to the size and type of the qualifying company and facility. Savings vary according to the program, but all are worth investigation.

United States federal industrial energy savings programs

The Department of Energy offers a variety of Industry Best Practices through its Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Industrial Technologies Program. Designed to help industrial companies of all size address energy management needs, these include software tools, publications, training, databases, lists of qualified specialists and tips on ways to save energy.

  • Small- to medium-sized manufacturing facilities with gross annual sales below $100 million and fewer than 500 employees at the plant site can benefit from a free EERE Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) energy and waste assessment.
  • Mid-size and large manufacturers can respond to EERE’s annual competitive solicitation for cost-shared Plant-Wide Energy Assessments while the nation's largest energy-using plants can receive free Energy Savings Assessments.
  • You can also contact the EERE Information Center with specific questions and to get assistance in finding the information you need.

In addition, you should investigate state industrial energy efficiency programs where your facilities are located.
