In a recent episode of the CSIA’s podcast "Talking Industrial Automation," Bryan DeBois, Director of Industrial AI at RoviSys, shared his journey from a co-op student with no prior knowledge of manufacturing to a seasoned expert solving complex industrial problems using AI. Bryan discussed the evolution of RoviSys since its founding in 1989 as an independent system integrator. This independence has enabled RoviSys to build solutions across multiple platforms without being tied to any specific vendor, setting them apart and allowing for highly customized solutions to meet diverse client needs.

The episode also highlighted pressing industry issues, such as the significant labor shortage and the accompanying "brain drain" as experienced experts near retirement. Bryan explained how RoviSys addresses this challenge with its Autonomous AI technology, which captures the expertise of seasoned professionals and integrates it into AI systems. This AI then guides less experienced operators, ensuring continuity and efficiency.

Additionally, DeBois emphasized the importance of long-overdue infrastructure upgrades, driven by the promise of AI and data analytics. These upgrades are finally being prioritized after years of neglect. His insights offer a compelling glimpse into the future of manufacturing, where AI and systems integration play pivotal roles in overcoming longstanding challenges and driving innovation.
